ARTIKEL BAHASA INGGRIS IRON DEFICIENCY INCREASE RISK OF STROKE OCCURRENCE

ARTIKEL BAHASA INGGRIS IRON DEFICIENCY INCREASE RISK OF STROKE OCCURRENCE
Researchers looked at data from nearly 500 people with a rare hereditary disease that menyebaabkan they are in risk of having an enlarged blood vessels in the lungs . Normally , the blood vessels in the lungs does not allow blood clotting ( blood clot ) to enter the artery . However, the patient - Pasen , blood clotting that occurs can escape from the lungs and to the brain , which in turn will lead to a stroke .

Those who have iron deficiency sticky platelets ( small blood cells that trigger blood clotting when sticking together ) are more likely to suffer a stroke , according to researchers at Imperial College London in the UK . Even those with sufficiently low iron levels were twice as likely to suffer a stroke than those with iron levels on average than the normal range . Hasi study published February 19 in the journal PLoS One .

The researchers noted that many people who have other types of conditions that allow blood clots pass through the filtering system of the lungs. They hope that these findings may ultimately help prevent the occurrence of stroke . Iron deficiency affects about two billion people around the world , and recent research has showed that iron deficiency may be a risk factor for stroke . However, it is technically still unknown how iron deficiency may increase the risk of stroke .

" Because of platelets in the blood from sticking together if you are iron deficient , we thought this might explain that iron deficiency can lead to stroke , although further studies are needed to prove this relationship , " said Dr. Claire Shovlin , from the National Heart and Lung Institute at Imperial college London .

" The next step is to test whether we can reduce the likelihood of high-risk patients with stroke will overcome iron- deficient . We will be able to see whether they become less sticky platelets , " Shovlin said .

" There are still some additional steps from a clot blocking a blood vessel can progress to the last step , so it is still unclear which influence platelet stickiness for keseluruhanan process , " he added . " We would certainly encourage more study to investigate this relationship . "

LACK OF VITAMIN C CAN INCREASE RISK OF STROKE

In a small study , French researchers have found that people who are deficient in vitamin C may be at greater risk for bleeding in the brain , or also called a hemorrhagic stroke . Hemorrhagic stroke affects 15 percent of all types of stroke , but usually this type of stroke is more deadly than ischemic stroke , a stroke occurs when a blood vessel in the brain becomes blocked .

" This study shows that low levels of vitamin C in the body can increase the risk of bleeding in the brain of a sudden , " said the lead researcher , Dr. Stephane Vannier of Pontchailloun University Hospital in Rennes .The relationship between vitamin C deficiency and strokeThis association may be related to the role of vitamin C that can lower blood pressure and maintain healthy blood vessels , Vannier said . Although revealing the relationship between vitamin C levels and risk of hemorrhagic stroke , but this study did not demonstrate a causal connection directly . Vitamin C is found in fruits and vegetables , such as citrus fruits , papaya , strawberries , peppers and broccoli .

Vannier said that these findings provide a rationale for testing the efficacy of vitamin C supplementation in preventing cerebral hemorrhage . However, he does not recommend taking supplements of vitamin C at this time . The best way to get vitamin C is through food , Vannier said . " We really do not recommend the use of vitamin C supplements when you do not lack these nutrients , " he said .

Dr. Ken Uchino , a stroke specialist at the Cleveland Clinic in Ohio , said that other studies are needed to confirm the possible relationship between vitamin C levels and cerebral hemorrhage . Vitamin C deficiency can also cause bleeding gums , Uchino said . " Vitamin C does have a relationship with the integrity of the network , " he said . " One could speculate that it may have something to do with a brain hemorrhage . " Vitamin C deficiency may simply indicate an unhealthy lifestyle as a whole , which can increase the risk of stroke , Uchino said .

In this study , the research team analyzed 65 people who had suffered a hemorrhagic stroke and 65 healthy people . Blood samples revealed that 41 percent of the participants had normal levels of vitamin C , 45 percent run levels of vitamin C , and 14 percent lack of vitamin C.

On average , those who had a stroke had run out of levels of vitamin C , while vitamin C levels normally found in healthy participants . Endless levels of vitamin C were associated with longer hospitalization , but not associated with a high risk of death , the researchers found .

" Vitamin C levels were significantly lower in people who had brain hemorrhage , compared to healthy people , but we do not calculate the risk probability , " Vannier said . High blood pressure , drinking alcohol and being overweight is another risk factor for brain hemorrhage , he said .

This study confirms that everyone should keep their nutritional intake , said Dr. Louis Morledge , an internist at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City . " The food menu they should be more on fruits and vegetables , and they should consider taking a multivitamin , " he said .

Stomach Fat Increases Risk of Osteoporosis in Men

Men who have fat in the abdominal or visceral fat can be called , are at risk for osteoporosis . It is based on a study presented at the annual meeting of the RSNA ( Radiological Society of North America ) . Miriam Bredella , MD , a radiologist from Massachusetts General Hospital said that it is very important for men to realize if the excess fat in the abdomen is not only a risk factor for heart disease and diabetes , but also a factor in the bone keroposan .

According to data from the National Center for Health Statistics in the United States , more than 37 million American men aged over 20 years are obese . Obesity has been linked to dangerous health problems such as diabetes , high cholesterol , asthma , heart disease , sleep disturbance , and joint problems . However, after the study, the assumption that men with excess weight will not suffer from osteoporosis or brittle bones , seems to be re-examined . Dr. . Bredella said that most research on osteoporosis is too focused on women , but research on osteoporosis in men is also important , especially in obese men .

The report states that there are different types of body fat . The first is subcutaneous fat ( subcutaneous fat ) , the fat just under the skin . While the second is visceral fat ( visceral fat ) or intra-abdominal fat , the fat that was on the inside under the muscle tissue in the abdominal cavity . Excess visceral fat in the body is very dangerous to health as it relates to heart disease . The amount of visceral fat stored in the body depends on the food , physical activity , and genetic factors .A study published in August of this year states that belly fat increases the risk of death of a person , even in those who have normal weight . In addition , according to a report in 2009 , visceral fat deposits in the body are also associated with depression . A study specifically examining osteoporosis in men also found that obesity among men having intercourse with fracture risk .

8 Tips to Strengthen Bones and Reduce the Risk of Osteoporosis

Characterized by increasingly weak and brittle bones , such as osteoporosis and osteopenia predecessor has affected many people in the world . In the United States , 44 million people have osteoporosis and causes more than 2 million of them suffered fractures each year , according to the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons ( AAOS ) . Fortunately , there are many things you can do to keep your bones strong and moreover reduce the risk of osteoporosis . It's never too early to start ..Some ways of keeping bones strong and reduce the risk of osteoporosis

1 . Starting from the youngReach peak bone density when you 're in your 20s . Since then , your task is to keep the level up to get the calcium and vitamin D are sufficient to offset the sport and then think about next steps .2 . Bone mineral density testOsteoporosis is often called the ' silent disease ' because you would not know that clearly , starting from the outer symptoms until a fracture , and of course this is not a sign that you are waiting . Bone mineral density test ( BMD = Bone Mineral Density ) can tell how strong your bones . Your doctor may combine the results of this test with other risk factors such as age and gender will be aimed at determining the risk of fracture in the next 10 years . For this test problem , please consult your doctor .

3 . Drinking milk and fill the intake of vitamin DMilk is rich in calcium which is good for bone health , while vitamin D may help the body to absorb calcium . Vitamin D can help improve and accelerate bone formation and strengthen the muscles of the body . This can reduce the risk of bone fracture or brittle . Meet the needs of as many as 1,200 mg of calcium a day , about four glasses of nonfat milk ( non - fat ) or three cups of nonfat yogurt , and also fill 1,000 IU of vitamin D. This recommendation is based on the National Osteoporosis Foundation ( NOF ) . If you do not like dairy products , as an alternative you can drink orange juice that is fortified vitamin D and calcium . In addition , you can also eat almonds , soy , and supplements . ( See also » Food or drinks that contain calcium besides milk )

4 . Avoid smokingSmoking can accelerate bone loss . Women who smoke have lower levels of estrogen and tend to undergo menopause sooner so it can accelerate bone loss . Also, avoid yourself from alcohol . Alcohol can interfere with the body's ability to absorb calcium and slow the formation of new bone .

5 . Limit intake of meatCalcium and phosphorus can assist the body in digesting animal protein . Eating too much red meat can drain the resources of the bone . On the other hand , lack of protein can inhibit the absorption of calcium . The solution is to limit intake of animal protein is not more than two times every day and eat smaller portions .

6 . Learn about family historyGenes determine a lot of factors that affect the overall health of your bones , including the size and bone mass , particularly in women when entering menopause . In addition , genes can also affect how well your body to absorb vitamin D and calcium . By knowing the medical history of the family ( father and mother ) includes your bones , you can take steps as early as possible , including the initial inspection and the use of drugs .

7 . Reduce sodium intakeToo much sodium ( sodium ) can cause the release of calcium from bone and are excreted in your urine . To keep more calcium in your bones , eat foods low in sodium and avoid processed foods that contain a lot of salt or .

8 . Stay activeSports such as running , tennis , and basketball can help strengthen bones if done in moderation . In addition, exercise or physical activity can strengthen the muscles ( like lifting weights ) can also help strengthen bones . However, if the sport is considered at risk , try something more simple like walking fast on a regular basis . The important thing is that you have to stay active every day .

Strong muscles and bones will improve balance and coordination body , so that you avoid the risk of falling that can lead to broken bones or brittle bones , which in turn will increase the risk of osteoporosis . Hopefully these few simple tips to keep your bones strong and prevent osteoporosis risk . May be useful .

Walking 4 Hour Week Lower Risk of Hip Fracture

Researchers from Brigham and Women 's Hospital to collect data from a large study , analyze information about the activities and habits of sitting on almost 36,000 men for 24 years .This study relies on participants' responses to questionnaires about how much and how fast they run , as well as a long time sitting and physical activity such as swimming , tennis , and so forth .

Over a period of 24 years , is known to occur 546 hip fractures , excluding fractures due to cancer or a traumatic event such as a fall while skiing or a car accident . Eighty- five percent of fractures that occurred include " Trauma Low " such as slipping , tripping , or falling off the chair .

The results showed that the more and the harder a guy goes , the lower the risk for hip fracture when he was older , the study authors said . For men who walk its main activity and do it at least 4 hours a week was associated with a significant decrease in the occurrence of hip fractures . The risk was 43 percent lower than the walk of less than an hour a week .

" It is well known that physical activity can help prevent hip fractures , and also helps build bone and muscle . In addition , walking can also help balance as well , " said study author Diane Feskanich , an assistant professor at Harvard Medical School .

" One thing that we show here is that being healthy does not have to strenuous activity , " said Feskanich . " Many studies have focused on the benefits of strenuous activity , but we found walking can also help prevent hip fractures . In addition , older people are often more comfortable with walking . "

Because of different fracture risk , people of African descent Ameria or Asia are not included in this study . The research was published online on February 13 tanggl ago in the American Journal of Public Health .

Dr. Neil Roth , an orthopedic surgeon said that the way to keep bones healthy and strong is by increasing the stress / pressure on the bone through the activity , but not excessive . " You are under a dangerous threshold , but it also pushed to the point that it builds bone mass , " said Roth . However, the treatment is different for each person .

A 75-year -old obese man will not be able to do the same activity with a person with normal weight 65 -year -old , Roth explained . He said that walking can help balance and cardiovascular problems , although these activities are not fully able to help address other health problems .

Feskanich said he and other researchers had previously conducted a similar study on women and the results are almost the same as the research on this guy .

He said the findings could encourage someone to increase the frequency of walking in order to get the benefits of better health , especially in the elderly .
